Holiday Beers and Winter Warmers

This week ten of us hung out and enjoyed seven awesome holiday beers and winter warmers. Beers included such wide-ranging flavors such as Yellow Snow, a Pilsner by Rogue, to Noel, a Belgian Strong Ale by Goose Island.
Mary and Madi brought one gigantic bottle of beer called “Merry Christmas and Happy New Year (Our Special Ale)”, which took teamwork to pour and was pretty darn cool.
The evening was basically a dessert pairing, with Michael bringing some deliciously fudgey Blackberry Wine brownies, Melanie providing jolly rancher sugar cookies and Brandy chocolates, and a German Chocolate cake I baked for Ryan’s birthday! Happy Birthday Ryan!

Today’s final beer marked Beer School’s 200th unique beer since our first class on July 5th! I am personally surprised how successfully we have navigated so many beers with so little overlap!

Finally, our White Elephant was super successful. It worked out perfectly that no one ended up with their own beers and we all had fun with the game as we passed around and unwrapped the beers.

What We Tasted:

Imperial Frambozen with Cocoa New Belgium
Yellow Snow Rogue
Noel Goose Island
Imperial Pumpkin Smash Crown Valley
Christmas Ale Breckenridge
Christmas Ale Anchor
Old Jubilation Ale Avery

I hope everyone has a wonderful week and a relaxing holiday season (hopefully including some great beer). There is no class next week since Derek and I will be in Wisconsin, so the next class will be in two weeks where the theme will be breweries who are Newcomers to the craft beer scene!
